During a 1976 interview on 60 Minutes, Mike Wallace challenged the Shah of Iran about his assertion that the jewish lobby in America was too powerful even for its own good:
Wallace Voice Over:
None of the Shah’s comments raised the hackles like his blast at the American Jewish lobby. Its influence, he claimed, went all the way to the top.
Wallace: Surely, Your Majesty, you’re not telling me the jewish lobby in the United States pulls the strings of the presidency?
Shah: Not entirely, but I think a little too much even for Israel’s interests.
Wallace: You think the jewish lobby in the United States is too powerful for the interests of Israel?
Shah: I think so. Sometimes they are disserving the interests of Israel because they are pushing around too many people.
Wallace: Why would the president of the United States pay attention to them?
Shah: They are strong.
Wallace: Strong in what sense?
Shah: They are controlling many things.
Shah: Newspapers. Medias.
Wallace: Your Majesty….
Shah: Banks. Finances. And I’m going to stop there.
Wallace: Well now, wait just a second….you really do believe the jewish community in the United States is that powerful? They make the media reflect their view of foreign policy?
Shah: Uh huh…Yes….
Wallace: They do not report….we do not report honestly?
Shah: Don’t mix things, please. I don’t say the media. I say in the media they have people. Not the entire media. Some newspapers will reflect only their views, yes.
Wallace: The New York Times, for instance, is owned by the Salzberger family who are jewish. Are you suggesting that the New York Times is biased in its treatment of the question of Zionism, Israel’s existence? The United States’ relationship with the arab world?
Shah: I will have to put all the articles of the New York Times written on this subject and ruled a conclusion. You can put this to a computer, and it will answer you.
Wallace: What you are saying is, yes, you do believe….
Shah: Well, let’s wait for the answer of the computer…
Wallace: Washington Post….
Shah: The same….
Wallace: The networks….
Wallace: I must say you are speaking with your characteristic candor.
Shah: Well, if you like. I try to be candid. I have always been.
This interview was part of an ongoing smear campaign in the western media against the Shah of Iran that would eventually culminate in his abdication in 1979, and his untimely and unnecessary death in 1980. The American CIA and its zionist henchmen installed the Shah’s family as their puppet after a well-documented coup d’etat of the popular Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh. But when the Shah tried to wrest control of Iran away from his U.S. puppet masters, the jewish press began portraying him as the next Hitler.
If anyone knew the true extent of the American Zionist and Israeli influence in America, it surely was the Shah who was privy to many of their high level plans over many decades. His great sin was to share the vast oil wealth of Iran with his people by breaking up the artificially low oil prices imposed by American commodity manipulators. His vast military power ran contrary to Israel’s desire for regional domination, and Iran instantly became a “rogue regime” that ruled “with an iron fist” using his “SS-like” SAVAK “secret police” to destroy anyone who challenged his “undemocratic” authority.
The same smear campaign has been used by the jewish press against every single popular leader that refuses to be Israel’s lap dog.
