The US government executed convicted murderer Lisa Montgomery, the only woman on federal death row, early on Wednesday, after the Supreme Court cleared the last hurdle for her execution by overturning a stay — while another judge granted a stay of execution for two Black mass murderers scheduled to be executed later this week because they tested positive for COVID:
Montgomery’s execution marked the first time the US government has implemented the death sentence for a female prisoner since 1953.
Challenges were fought across multiple federal courts on whether to allow execution of Montgomery, 52, who had initially been scheduled to be killed by lethal injections of pentobarbital, a powerful barbiturate on Tuesday in the Justice Department’s execution chamber at its prison in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Kelley Henry, Montgomery’s lawyer, in scathing remarks, called the pending execution, “vicious, unlawful, and unnecessary exercise of authoritarian power.”
“No one can credibly dispute Mrs. Montgomery’s longstanding debilitating mental disease – diagnosed and treated for the first time by the Bureau of Prisons’ own doctors,” Henry said in a statement.
Montgomery was convicted in 2007 in Missouri for kidnapping and strangling Bobbie Jo Stinnett, then eight months pregnant. Montgomery cut Stinnett’s fetus from the womb. The child survived.
Some of Stinnett’s relatives have traveled to witness Montgomery’s execution, the Justice Department said.
Montgomery’s lawyers asked for Trump’s clemency last week, saying she committed her crime after a childhood in which she was abused and repeatedly raped by her stepfather and his friends, and so should instead face life in prison.
It is one of three executions the US Department of Justice had scheduled for the final full week of President Donald Trump’s administration. Two other executions scheduled for Thursday and Friday have been delayed, for now at least, by a federal judge in Washington, to allow them to recover from COVID-19.
Federal executions had been on pause for 17 years and only three men had been executed by the federal government since 1963 until the practice was resumed last year under Trump, whose outspoken support for capital punishment long predates his entry into politics.
If you aren’t familiar with the case of Lisa Montgomery — she obviously is deeply disturbed — she arranged to meet a pregnant women under the pretext of buying a puppy from her — and murdered her instead — then tore her baby out of her body and left her to die — then tried to pass the newborn off as her own.
That her case involved a pregnant victim and puppies contributed to the predictable lack of sympathy for her — either way, she is in “full tilt mode” and had no business being released back into society — and perhaps execution was ultimately the most humane way of dealing with her.
Whereas the two Black mass murderers — Cory Johnson and Dustin Higgs — had no mitigating circumstances — they murdered multiple people — women — with malice and forethought.
But luckily for both Johnson and Higgs they coincidentally tested positive for COVID — and the Federal judge — a Jamaican-born affirmative action Obama appointment — granted a stay of execution based on the preposterous notion that it would be cruel and unusual punishment to execute these vicious killers while they currently “suffered” from COVID lung infections.
There’s no evidence that these two have active lung infections aside from the bogus positive results of their COVID tests — but no doubt once they found out they were “positive” for COVID, they knew enough to start “coughing” to save their lives, on the advice of their attorneys.
Their “executions” have been “re-scheduled” for mid-March after Biden allegedly takes office — which virtually ensures that their death penalties will be commuted to either life sentences — or they will be released outright because both — allegedly — have been “model prisoners”.

We will be judged, after we die. What happens between people in life should always be between them, not them and a third party (the state).
So the woman killed someone and she’s going to be executed by a man, who doesn’t know her and whom she hasn’t wronged. So, technically, on your premise – a life for a life, so who’s going to kill th executioner in the prison?
Who is the criminal – the one who calls for the crime to be committed or the one who commits the crime? We are told that both are guilty. A classic example is when there’s a sting operation on the mafia and they go up as high as they can, to frame them also for the murder, along with the murderers below them. However, where is the punishment of the politicians, who call for war? Where is the punishment of Bush, Blair, Brown, Clinton, Powell, Rice, Albright, Rumsfield, Kissinger etc etc? What makes them any different to the mafia dons? In fact, how can you compare a mafia don, who may order the killing of a couple of individuals from another crime family, to a politician, responsible for calling for the invasion of a country and the murder of hundreds of thousands and subsequent destruction of millions of people’s lives thereafter?
There’s a good part in the Godfather when that precisely happens, with Michael having been back in America for a year, after hiding in Sicily for the murder of the police chief protecting the ‘Turk’ who ordered the hit on his father and having a conversation with his future wife, Kay:

MICHAEL: “My father’s no different than any other powerful man —

Whomever takes a life then their life is therefore forfeit in the context of an eye for an eye? More so, what makes the murder this woman has done, to any murder committed by a member of the western armed forces, in their invasions of the middle east? What makes her murder any different than the murder by the FBI on those in the Waco siege? There is no difference, yet, are those armed forces personnel, FBI and police in death row awaiting execution? Have many of those armed forces personnel not killed far, far more than the people on death row, people who never caused them or anyone of their nation harm, having just invaded their land?
If we’re going to get down to the nitty gritty, every armed force personnel, every policeman, every member of the security services should be treated no differently to those people on death row. You cannot differentiate between murders, whatever the reason. The outcome is the same – a dead body. There is of course a difference if you are being attacked, but well, we know the story about the aforementioned already, don’t we?

yes, but youre ‘mixing metaphors’; there is a difference between personal wrongs committed and capital crimes/societal wrongs. The Bible is CLEAR – in several places – about the command for execution for certain crimes, and ‘murder 1’ is at the top of the list. Period.
It is the duty of legitimate government to remove the murderer from society.
If the Bible is clear, then show me out of the Bible. You won’t find anything stating that it is the duty of worldly government to execute judgement according to God’s law. You also won’t find anything concerning what is a legitimate, worldly government. I say “worldly government”, because Israel will be restored when the Lord returns. That is the only legitimate government.
“12 For what business of mine is it to judge outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? 13 But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the evil person from among yourselves.” (1 Corinthians 5:12-13)
Here is a verse which shows unequivocally I have not mixed metaphors. Hebrews 10:30 quotes one of the same passages in the context of God’s judgement against the world. We don’t need worldly government, or so-called “legitimate government” to enforce anything. They may even execute God’s judgement unwittingly (Rom 13:1), or they person may be left for the final judgement. At the end of the age, all will be accounted for.

So that You are justified when You speak
And blameless when You judge.” (Psalm 51:4)

There are many sins unto death. If we all took the just punishment, we would all be dead. In God’s mercy, He may stave off the just judgement, so that they may be forgiven and be sanctified. If I deserved death, but the Lord forgave me and I was sanctified into holiness, who is he who judges me? God judges me. Man does not judge me.
It is not our duty to judge outsiders. It is God’s duty to judge outsiders. We need to judge them insofar as we keep ourselves separate and unleavened. A holy people. Too often I see people presuming to judge the world and outsiders, but they cannot judge their own lives.
So then we can look at Leviticus 24
